Twisted Pretty is where you will find unique pieces of handmade art embroidery, jewellery and accessories made using traditional methods, but with a modern twist.
Based in Townsville, in the beautiful North Queensland region of Australia, Twisted Pretty is the brainchild of Christine McKenzie, who takes every opportunity to spend time creating the unusual artworks and other bits and pieces you will find on this site.
Most of Christine’s work is bespoke – customised to each individual customer’s tastes and preferences. We are always more than happy to speak to you about designing your own piece, which can be provided framed for immediate display, or unframed so you can turn it into your own customised…. anything your heart desires!
The Inspirations page holds hundreds of pattern ideas – each of which can be made to order. You chose the size, change the colours, add some text, pick a background colour…. the options are endless! Of course, if you have your own design you would like turned into a lasting keepsake, just send it to us and we can create it for you – why not have that drawing your daughter did in school turned into a gorgeous card for her 18th birthday? Or have it done larger, for all her friends to sign at the party so you can frame it later? (Please note however, it is not possible to convert photographs to artworks)
As each piece is totally hand stitched, the turnaround time can vary greatly depending on the size and detail of the design. If you are looking for something for a special occasion, it’s best to place your order a couple of months in advance to make sure you get it on time.
The jewellery and accessories at Twisted Pretty can also be made to order, but mostly these are pre-made and placed for sale on the Available Now page. Of course, if you are after something specific we can always make it for you – it will just take a little longer.
